Local shows and events designed to help people start their own business can now get support from the Croydon Enterprise programme.
To qualify they will have to show how they will support entrepreneurship and energise target communities in Fieldway-New Addington, North West Croydon, Shrublands and Monks Hill.
The fund is being administered by the Croydon Business Support Network (CBSN).
This is a small, but important, way of giving people with drive and ideas the support and information they need to start their own business, or expand an existing one.
Events held in the target areas will be favoured, as will those designed to attract new or existing small businesses and people who are considering going into business. CBSN will need to know about planned promotional activity and see some detail about the content.
The fund supports new events, but support for existing activities will be considered if the organisers can demonstrate that their event will help the programme achieve its aims. Events must also have free admission.
Organisations thinking of applying should log onto the Croydon Enterprise website - http://www.croydonenterprise.com/aboutlegi.html - to make sure they understand the aims of the programme and its target communities.
Grants will be limited to a maximum of £3,000 per application and judged by a CBSN panel, whose decision is final.
The Croydon Enterprise Business Events Fund has been made possible thanks to the successful Local Enterprise Growth Initiative bid.
