Businesses need advice about planning. But this can be complex, and for small businesses it can be a confusing process often appearing that the odds are stacked against you. This is why Croydon Enterprise has launched a Business Friendly Planning Service which aims to help and support businesses assisting you through the process. If you are heading down the wrong track they can point you in the right direction, and not just say what cannot be done.
The service is online, on the phone and can come to you. It is staffed by senior planners dealing with enquiries ranging from running a business from home or a commercial premises to developing planning applications for redevelopment.

Fast, free trustworthy planning advice
Business friendly planners will assess your planning query including the history of any highlighted sites or development plots. The planning team is aware of the need for speedy, consistent and reliable advice to make business ideas a reality. Basic queries can be answered immediately or site visits can be conducted within 1 week of contact.
Knowledge of the Borough and the planning framework
Two planning officers, with over six years of experience working as officers within the planning department at Croydon Council, are on hand to deal with your planning queries. This experience has provided a good knowledge of each of the distinctive areas of the Borough as well as the local planning issues.
Commitment to reach optimum level of development for a site
Planners will look at issues and proposals from a business point of view. Weighing up the costs and benefits for the business and the proposal concerned. It is important that any advice is realistic and consistent with planning legislation, but a can do attitude will be the first instinct.
Assistance in completing applications
Delays in dealing with planning applications can often be put down to insufficient or incorrect information being included with the initial submission. The planning team will sit with applicants, assisting with filling out forms and working through the checklist of information required.
A presence in the District Centres
A timetable of planning surgeries will soon be up and running with sessions in each of the District Centres. There is also a strong bond between the District Centre Management Team and the Business Friendly Planning Service. Between us we will be able to find vacant or available sites and assist with all the planning matters.
