The Croydon Loan Scheme is a not-for-profit venture designed to help businesses to start up and create employment for local people. The Scheme is run under the auspices of the Continuing Education & Training Service Business Start-Up Unit in partnership with Greater London Enterprise (GLE) One London.
It is not in competition with the banks or other mainstream lenders. Businesses that are able to raise all the funds needed through normal commercial sources are not eligible for assistance.
Loans are between £500 and £5,000, repayable over three years, and target people over 18 who live in Croydon or wish to start a business (or social enterprise) in the Borough.
