‘Having traded and been active within  my community for almost 30 years I believe the business partnership is the most significant initiative that has been introduced to assist and enable local trading communities to thrive in a market that is dominated by multinationals. It enables the independent trader to access funds and facilities that are normally the preserve of large organisations. In the twelve months I have been involved with the business partnership I have seen my trading community grow from what was a loose amalgamation into a strong trading partnership that has enabled individual members access to a range of training initiatives and funding enabling their business to reach a far greater potential than otherwise could have been achieved. The whole process has been facilitated by the introduction of a District Centre Manager without whom this project would not have succeeded. I have been trying to achieve something resembling the results we now have for many years with little real effect, the business partnership has made things happen. This we see as of great benefit, not only for our individual businesses but to the wider community that we serve.’

“I believe that, united together as a focused entity, the various businesses that trade in Crystal Palace can make their voices heard in a far more effectual way than if they simply try to fight in their own individual corners.

If, as a collective group, we, the businesses of Crystal Palace, can focus on specific, tangible, attainable objectives and targets, I am convinced that we can make a difference.

Furthermore, having focused on and achieved demonstrable results, The Crystal Palace Business Partnership will have laid a foundation stone of credibility that will enable it to push for, and achieve, yet more and more ambitious objectives to the benefit of local businesses.

At this point in time, with the dynamic of the area in which we work undergoing such significant changes, it is very important that we focus upon being as effectual in this pursuit of genuine results, as we possibly can.

I don't believe that I am being melodramatic when I say that that the very existence of many of the traders in Crystal Palace hinges upon whether or not we can create an entity that will push the needs of the business community here to the fore with a significant chance of attaining useful results.”

‘My aspirations for the business partnership are that the business community grows as an influential unit and an important voice in the local area.

Also that the partnership is known as a really useful addition to any local businessman's armory in this difficult business climate, making them glad to play an active part due to the ability to exert greater influence.

The value added aspirations which will come as a result of this include increased security for the many businesses and shoppers by better contact between the police and the business community, regular meetings involving council and/or any relevant officials to ensure improvements in all areas such as street cleaning, assisting businesses in their struggles against any common threats and finally putting Norbury on the map as a nice place to come, live, visit and most importantly shop!’
