Business Link support for disabled entrepreneurs
Capital Projects

We want to create highly visible capital projects in the target areas. In addition to delivering specific programme outcomes, these will show residents and business that the area is being revitalised.

Enterprise Centres
Three Enterprise Centres will be created to offer high quality business space for start ups and existing businesses. Based in district centres they will contribute to their re-birth and regeneration. They will be linked to a number of other initiatives to ensure there is critical mass for each development. This will include the proposals under Theme 2 to develop skills centres in the target areas. The three centres will be:

  • Central Parade, New Addington – part of a mixed development incorporating new homes, library, community centre, water and leisure facilities and a health centre.
  • Portland Square, Portland Road, South Norwood – part of an inward investment mixed development regeneration scheme providing new homes, community centre and child care facilities.
  • Broad Green – location to be decided.

In preparation for this, a Foundation Building contract is to be let by open tendering for the management and operation of the centres.

Linking business to education
A feasibility study is being conducted by South London Business Ltd into the possibility of having a block of small business units linked to education facilities at Norbury Manor School.  If this proves feasible, the programme will support the school to get planning permission and deliver the project.

Social Enterprise Centre
It is intended to establish units for social enterprises in the North West Croydon Healthy Resource Centre now being built by Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA). In addition to suitable business premises, business support would also be offered on site.

This will be procured by a grant to CVA who own the building and who are leading on the construction.
