Croydon Enterprise is an ambitious ten-year programme to regenerate Croydon and use entrepreneurship to narrow the gap between disadvantaged communities and the rest of the borough. The long term vision is to ensure that:
“By 2016, Croydon will be a dynamic and thriving economy in the London region, based on a climate of enterprise, entrepreneurship, and employability. This will reflect the diversity, creativity and sustainability of all of Croydon’s communities and businesses, ensuring growth and opportunities for all.”
Our strategic objects are to:
- To increase the entrepreneurial potential of all communities across Croydon and in particular key target groups
- To support the creation and survival of new businesses, the sustainable growth of existing businesses and reduce the failure rate of business across Croydon
- To support the development of an economic environment that attracts new inward investment and franchising opportunities into Croydon, making best use of local labour resources
The Croydon Enterprise Strategy sets out how the programme will be delivered. It details our over-arching goals and how this will be translated into activity.
Support from the programme is available to residents looking to improve their skills, find a new job or start a business in Croydon. Local entrepreneurs can access advice to help them to expand their company and businesses from outside Croydon can receive assistance to move into the borough. Although our services are available to anyone meeting the above criteria, the programme is particularly targeted at communities which have experienced higher instances of economic and social exclusion. Our key target groups are:
- Women
- People with disabilities
- BAME communities
- Lone parents
- Young people
- Older people (50+)
- NEET
- People on long-term benefits
