Well being works

Well being works - helping people with mental health problems in the workplace

SUTO

South London and Maudsley NHS

“Everything we do is to improve the experience of people using our services and to promote mental health and well-being for all.”
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust core value

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) is providing the Well-being Works! project, through the Croydon Enterprise programme to promote mental health and well-being and reduce the incidence of work-related mental ill-health.  In both the public and private sectors, they are working with organisations and individuals who are committed to developing more mentally-healthy workplaces.

SLaM operates the largest mental health research and development provision in the world and has close links in education and research with the Institute of Psychiatry and Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, both of which are part of King’s College London.

About our work with Croydon Enterprise

We live in a time of rapid technological advancement and societal change that is having a dramatic effect on our mental health. As a result, we all need to improve our capacity not only to cope, but also to thrive, in an increasingly complex world.

Through the Well-being Works! project, SLaM is working to promote mental health and well-being and reduce the incidence of work-related mental ill-health.  In both the public and private sectors, we are working with organisations and individuals who are committed to developing more mentally-healthy workplaces in Croydon by:

  • delivering ‘Train-the-Trainers’ courses to Croydon mental health service users who want to develop their skills as professional trainers and use their direct experience to improve attitudes to mental illness
  • developing and delivering advice, information and training to Croydon businesses that are committed to improving and promoting workplace well-being
  • supporting organisations in the development of positive approaches to improving well-being, increasing stress-hardiness and reducing work-related mental ill-health
